WATCH: Draymond Green opens up about Kevin Durant’s departure

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is coming off a drama-filled 2018-19 season that began with him getting into a spat with now-former teammate Kevin Durant.

Some have speculated that the incident in question helped lead to Kevin Durant bolting Golden State for the Brooklyn Nets in free agency.

The since-extended Green finally opened up about the situation surrounding Durant’s exit from Northern California.

Green talked to ESPN’s Rachel Nichols on Wednesday. His response was about as surprising as it gets.

First off, Green noted that Durant did not tell him that he was signing with the Nets before the rest of the public knew.

Draymond tells me he’s totally fine KD didn’t talk to him about going to the Nets; “I’m not about to go to Kevin Durant & say, ‘Hey, Kevin, can I get my fiancé pregnant?’”

“I found out that he was picking Brooklyn when everybody else found out, which is exactly how it should be,” Green said. “He don’t owe it to me to tell me before he tells everybody else.”

Green also noted that Durant and him are still “brothers” while saying they just spoke recently.

As Durant takes a red-shirt year in Brooklyn while recovering from a torn Achilles, Green’s Warriors are going to look a lot different.

Fellow All-Star Klay Thompson likely won’t return from his ACL injury until February. Meanwhile, the Warriors added star youngster D’Angelo Russell in the sign-and-trade for Durant.

At the very least, there doesn’t appear to be any hard feelings here.
