MILPITAS — A 15-year-old San Jose resident on active probation was sent to county Juvenile Hall this week after his arrest in connection with a residential burglary, authorities said.
Just before 7:30 p.m. Monday, a resident reported to police that their Edsel Drive home had been broken into sometime after 9:30 a.m., with multiple items missing, including a laptop computer, police said Friday.
After the victim told police Tuesday that the laptop was tracking at a location in San Jose, officers went to an address but were not able to contact a suspect.
Later, a resident at the address called police and reported finding the laptop and other possibly stolen electronic items. Detectives returned to the address that afternoon and arrested the suspect on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property, police said.
Officers did not release the suspect’s name because of his age but acknowledged a probation hold.
Police reminded residents to secure homes’ windows and doors before leaving, and to use burglar alarms and surveillance cameras if available.
