A man was arrested on suspicion of murder after a 35-year-old man was stabbed in a “fierce attack” while sleeping.
Officers believe that Ebrima Cham, known as Brim, died in a “targeted attack.”
Three men broke into Ebrima’s friend’s apartment in Hounslow, west London, where he was at the time.
The man was arrested at his home in London on Sunday morning on suspicion of murder.
Metropolitan Police officers were called to the scene on Grove Road around 11.30 a.m. on Thursday, but despite the best efforts of the emergency services, Cham was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
His family said in a statement: ‘You read about murders in the news and think that” it will never be us “, much less when Brim should have been safe on one floor.
‘We haven’t slept since Thursday, we feel stunned by the pain and there are so many questions, including” why? “
‘Today we are three days away from Christmas and a time for family celebration and peace.
“But our celebrations have been transformed, through the actions of others, in our time to mourn the loss of our Brim forever.”
Police are appealing for witnesses and asking anyone who has images of the camera on the board to come forward.

Chief Detective Inspector Noel McHugh, who directs the investigation, said: “There is no doubt that Brim was the victim of a selective attack.”
‘We are very interested in building an image of what was happening in Brim’s life. Who was he associating with? He was killed on a friend’s floor; Where else had he been staying in the last two weeks?
Im Brim never had a chance, he was asleep before this fierce attack.
“Naturally, there will be a lot of talk on the street about Brim’s murder and his call could be the missing link to obtain justice for his family.”
A 44-year-old man was previously arrested on suspicion of murder and has since been released without further action.
He was not one of the three men who entered the house forcibly, police said.
Cham was one of seven men stabbed to death in London in the same number of days.
