The Jason Garrett era seems to be ending in Dallas. The Cowboys won’t make the playoffs this year unless they beat the Redskins and the Eagles lost to the Giants in week 17.

Jerry Jones was patient with this coaching staff, but there’s no way he can keep Garrett without a playoff appearance. So in 2020 the Cowboys will be looking for a new head coach.

Who will the cowboys target?

Here are three head coaches that Dallas will target in 2020.

Urban Meyer

Former Ohio State head coach could be Jerry Jones’ # 1 goal. Meyer has never trained in the NFL, but he could be exactly what Jones is looking for.

Meyer admitted to Colin Cowherd that year that he would have to listen to the cowboys if they called.

“This is the New York Yankees, this is the Dallas Cowboys, this is one. Great city, you have Dak Prescott, you have Zeke Elliott, you have a full team, and I can’t speak for (Lincoln Riley) – me even hate to speculate – because I don’t know him, that’s really not fair But for me it’s the only job in professional football where you say: ‘I have to do that.’ ”

Meyer then said he would consider an offer if he got one.

“Absolutely. Absolutely,” he said. “This? Yes.”

Lincoln Riley

Riley is the coach who has been most involved in the cowboy job since Jason Garrett was in the hot chair. The head coach from Oklahoma is an offensive genius and has produced three elite QBs in Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts.

Former Cowboys defender Marcus Spears does not see Riley’s purchase in Oklahoma as a problem either.

“No chance. $ 4.6 million for Jerry Jones is part of the business. In the past, Oklahoma’s head coach came to Dallas. It’s down the street, number one. It’s relevant to Dallas cowboy fans. There are a lot of Sooners who translate Dallas Cowboys fans. And now you have an offensive mind like Lincoln Riley, who is all familiar with the way he plays and the trends of the NFL and what Dallas does with all this offensive talent tried, in love, it just makes sense, ”he said.

Josh McDaniels

McDaniels, the Patriots’ offensive coordinator, left the Colts head coach a few years ago. Would he finally make the leap when Robert called?

According to the Bleacher Report, McDaniels is one of Jones’ top two candidates.

Second, there is growing belief that owner Jerry Jones is focusing on two key candidates as substitutes – former Ohio state head coach Urban Meyer and patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
