With every passing year, the luxury home scene in Colorado grows more distant from what builders have always called custom homes: one-of-a-kind designs created for the opportunities and challenges of a specific homesite.

But next weekend you can see three examples of the genuine article.
Next Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 8, 9 and 10, you’re invited to Sterling Custom Homes’ annual Luxury Home Tour, this year featuring designs in two very scenic and protected settings, The Golf Club at Ravenna near Roxborough Park, and Colorado Country Club in Parker.
Sign up for the free tour at SterlingCustomHome.com and you’ll be admitted through the security gates at either community to see home designs that are way beyond what you’re visiting now in luxury communities by large production home builders.
That starts at Ravenna, the scenic golf community 25 minutes southwest from DTC, where Sterling has a Modern Farm House on view, its formal and family areas created for dramatic entertaining, with a gourmet kitchen, and wall-to-wall glass to show the setting between red rock ridges. There’s a big, multidimensional master retreat and huge covered deck that’s an extension of the entertaining areas, along with a fully finished walk-out level with a covered patio, big recreation area, wine cellar and a spa bath.
Sterling is one of a very few builders chosen to participate in Ravenna, with a popular clubhouse and a lineup of community events.
Meanwhile, the Luxury Home Tour is a chance to get behind the gates at Colorado Golf Club, where the USGA Mid-Am Championship was played in September.
Sterling will show you two homes, including a 6,700-foot Montana Ranch Estate with a main-floor master suite set in its own wing, a guest suite upstairs with its own kitchen and living spaces, and a “Super Kitchen” with designer appliances, six-seat island, entertainment bar, private caterer’s kitchen and a huge walk-in pantry. Cascading glass walls allow the entertaining spaces to be opened wide to the 7,610-yard course designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, and to its views of the Rockies.
